According to a story from the AP (and reported by The Milwaukee Journal), the Brewers get 6-1 odds to win the American League pennant and advance to the World Series this season, according to Harrah’s Reno-Tahoe Race Book.
The solid odds shouldn’t be surprising for a team that got bounced in a five-game strike-icised playoff series with division rival New York Yankees. Of course, those 1981 AL Champion Yankees are favorites to repeat with 9-5 odds.
If anything, the Brewers should feel slighted that they aren’t even given the second best odds in the American League. Ownership of those 12-5 odds go to the Oakland A’s. Even the Baltimore Orioles, another division rival, get superior 3-1 odds. In fact, the Texas Rangers and Chicago White Sox, of all teams, equal the Brewers’ chances in the eyes of Vegas experts at 6-1.
I’m suddenly feeling the urge to spend some money.
The reigning World Series Champion Los Angeles Dodgers are given the best odds to win the National League, at a 12-5 clip. In case you’re wondering, the lowly Chicago Cubs get 200-1 odds to win the National League.
What do you think? Do you agree with these odds?
